Ch 1 Review

In chapter one, the thing that I will remember most is the Scablands. The Scablands were a huge mystery to scientists until they solved the mystery of it. Knowing about the Scablands is so interesting because it shows all the unusual things nature can do.  Also, learning that the Scablands can help scientists determine what happened to Mars, and if it once held water, is just AMAZING! It’s like we have our own Mars landscape right in the USA! What I learned about the Scablands is that they were created in a very short length of time, almost overnight. They were also created by a great flood caused by the collapsing of an ice glacier/dam. The water came all the way from Lake Missoula! This was a very important part of Washington’s history because the fact that these potholes and unusual carvings appeared out of nowhere, would boggle the minds of scientists for years, and that is pretty hard to believe! That was my review on Chapter One in our Washington State History.

Muhammad Book

I thought making my Muhammad Book would be hard and boring. I stand corrected. It actually did not take that long and it was anything but boring. I think I did well on the detail included in my paragraphs. I gave dates, ages, places, and more. Though, one thing I would change would be my pictures. I could have added a lot more color and detail to those too. What I learned with this assignment is how Muhammad had an influence on the Arabian Peninsula. His influence was his religion. He really changed the beliefs of many people even though he knew he could suffer consequences. If I were to choose on doing a test or assignments like this, I’d probably choose the tests. I don’t exactly have all the time in the world and the tests would work better with my schedule. Though, I do think I learned more from this project than I would with a test. I think this because, with test some people don’t exactly think about what they’re memorizing. They just make it sink into their brains, but with these projects you can learn the info the fun way.

Dear Mom and Dad,

My first trimester in Social Studies went really well. I got an A- in this class, which is pretty good. Nothing was too hard, but it wasn’t too easy either. It was moderate. The projects were a lot of fun, like the Church Poem. It was a lot of fun to make and decorate my own poem about Medieval Times! I hope to see a lot more of the fun projects. Lucky for me, I also got a nice and awesome Social Studies teacher! We get to do a lot of projects, work, ect. on a computer or some other technology, which is a lot more fun than writing a boring essay on paper! Well, I will see you soon! Have fun at my school!
